Just south of Franktown on highways 83 and 85 are some great hiking trails in a state park called Castlewood Canyon.

You can see wildlife, the remains of an old homestead, a waterfall, the ruins of the old Cherry Creek dam, and cliff climbers testing their metal on the vertical rock walls of the canyon while the vultures circle overhead!
